Tom Amend, a pianist and composer, came to painting later in life. He began with the study of drawing and painting with Joy Buell at the DeCordova Museum School and with David Curtis in Gloucester, Massachusetts. His paintings explore the marshes, quarries and woods of Cape Ann, New Hampshire mountains, and the Maine coast as well as the countryside of Provence and Drôme regions in the South of France. Tom is a juried member of the North Shore Arts Association and the Rockport Art Association. His work is exhibited in galleries and other venues around Cape Ann. He lives in Gloucester with artist and chiropractor Elizabeth Bish whom he met while painting in France in 2005.
