Experience David's painting process as he captures the beauty and atmosphere of one of Cape Ann's most iconic landmarks. During this live demonstration, he'll share his approach to plein air painting, offering insight into composition, color, light, and the techniques he uses to create expressive landscapes. Whether you're an artist, collector, or simply enjoy watching creativity unfold, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn from one of New England's accomplished plein air painters.
David Drinon is passionate about painting outdoors throughout New England in every season. Inspired by the Boston and Cape Ann painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, he creates work rooted in the region's rich artistic tradition. After a successful career in finance, David transitioned to painting full-time in 2010 and studied at the New Hampshire Institute of Art under Patrick McCay, as well as with noted artists Stapleton Kearns, David Curtis, and Thomas R. Dunlay.
His paintings are held in private collections across the country and by institutions including Lowell City Hall, Enterprise Bank, Boston Partners Financial Group, Lahey Clinic, Lowell Community Health Center, and others. David has exhibited widely throughout New England, including at the Guild of Boston Artists, the Massachusetts State House, the Whistler House Museum of Art, and the Rockport Art Association & Museum. He served as Artist-in-Residence at the Whistler House Museum of Art in 2015 and 2016 and is a juried member of the Rockport Art Association & Museum, the North Shore Arts Association, and the Copley Art Society. David was also selected as a featured artist for the 2020 and 2021 Cape Ann Plein Air Festival and currently serves on the boards of both the North Shore Arts Association and the Arts Institute Group of Merrimack Valley.
